After a week of grinding at work, it’s time to grind in the kitchen and create something yum!

This week I’ll be cooking some meals for my weekly meal prep, plus I’m baking this simple chocolate banana bread recipe that only has 5 ingredients.

If you’re like me and you enjoy super simple recipes that you can almost remember after looking at it once – you may really enjoy this simple recipe.

This chocolate banana bread recipe is adapted from the 4 Ingredient Banana Bread recipe which was a good hit, but this recipe is a bit more decadent!

What’s to healthy about this recipe?

  • Raw Cacao Powder may seem quite boring when you look at it, but when you add this bitter powder to your bakings, all of a sudden it’s like magic! You’ll see that once you add this
  • Bananas are one of my favourite ingredients to cook with, because they’re a great natural sweetener, and are great for baking as they are mushy and keep ingredients bound together. Bananas are also a good source of magnesium, potassium and fibre.
  • Oats are a great source of carbohydrates, which gives you energy throughout the day. I love using oats vs a standard flour, as it makes me feel better knowing I’m using a wholesome ingredient.
  • Peanut Butter… another staple in my kitchen. Do I need to say more?

This super simple flourless chocolate banana bread is made with only 5 ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Rolled Oats

  • 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter (Smooth or Crunchy)

  • 4-5 Ripe Bananas

  • Raw Cacao Powder (40grams)

  • 1/2 Cup Peanut Butter

  • GARNISH
  • Sliced banana for topping

  • Chocolate chips for topping

Directions

  • Turn oven on 180 degrees C and line baking mould with baking paper.
Chop bananas into chunks, add to mixing bowl (leave half a banana for slices on the top).
  • Add all rolled oats, peanut butter and cacao powder to mixing bowl.
  • Mix all ingredients together using a masher until banana is mashed and all ingredients are mixed thoroughly.

Don’t over mix as this will make a much denser loaf. The idea is to have a rough and fluffy mixture.
  • Poor mixture in lined baking mould and top with sliced banana if you like.

Bake in the middle of oven for approximately 18 – 20 minutes until golden brown (if the top is starting to get burnt, cover with aluminium foil) note that the inside will be gooey.
  • When removing the loaf from the oven, let it cool down in the mould for approx. 5 or 10 minutes before cutting.

Note that this mixture is not like your average banana bread and may be more thick and sticky (not like a dense cake style).

The Bottom Line

Having some food prepped for the week makes me feel much better as I won’t be grabbing the unhealthy snacks when hunger strikes.

Although my diet isn’t perfect, enjoying life and all it has to offer is more important to me than maintaining a perfect diet. I believe as long as you’re choosing healthier options that are better for your health, you’re doing great!
