DIY Clean Protein Bar Recipe

Last updated 19 May 2020.

This recipe is super easy, yummy and healthy. You can eat this if you are on a ‘clean diet’. I usually bake on a Sunday so that I’ve got some yummies for during the week. The below recipe is adapted from this recipe which I found through Pinterest. So let’s have a look at what you’ll need to make your own clean protein bars.

DIY Clean Protein Bar Ingredients

  • 1 -2 Cups Dry Oat Meal (if you don’t have this, simply blend normal rolled oats in blender to make your own oat meal)
  • 2-4 Scoops of your favourite protein powder (I used 100% Leanwhey Vanilla Ice)
  • 1 Ripe banana
  • 1/2 – 1 cup flaxseed (and or pinenuts/slivered almonds)
  • 1/2 Cup of Melted Peanut butter
  • 1/2 Cup of Melted Conocut Oil/Butter
  • A little bit of water to smooth the mixture
  • Optional: Honey if your banana isn’t sweet enough
  • Optional: Raisins / Cranberries
  • Optional: Shredded Coconout / Coconut Flakes
  • Optional: 1 Dark Cholocate Bar (75% or 80% cocoa)

Step 6: In a separate little bowl, mix peanut butter and coconut oil and melt in microwave. Once melted, add this into the large bowl mixture.

Step 7: Now the fun part, mix all ingredients together with a wooden spoon and or your hands. If the mixture is too dry, add a little bit of water.  Please note that the mixture should be really thick/firm (NOT A BATTER).

Step 8: Pour mixture into a lined baking tray.

Step 9: Smooth out the mixture and press down really firmly. Make sure you press it down like your life depends on it because this will make the BEST bars 🙂 (it needs to be firm!)

Step 10: Optional melt dark chocolate (75% or 80% cocoa) and pour melted chocolate over the mixture.

Step 11: Put in freezer for about 30 mins (or fridge for a couple hours)

Tadaaaaa… finished! Carefully take out the hardened mixture of the tray and cut up into bars. Pack separately so that you can easily take one to work, or on the go! Enjoy!
